Holy Grounds 2010, When The Desert Feels Longer Than 40 Days

Holy Grounds is a Lenten coffehaus presented by Office of Young Adult Ministry on Wednesday nights throughout Lent beginning with the Wednesday after Ash Wednesday. Five weeks of Lent.  Five locations around the Archdiocese. Join us for an evening of faith, fellowship, and fun!  We'll begin with a Mass at 6pm* (*time may vary - see below), a light Lenten dinner, and a dynamic speaker at 7:30pm.  We'll conclude with coffee and dessert. Priests will be available for confession as well. So, come and join us, and change your life over a cup of coffee.

Called and Gifted Workshop - RESCHEDULED for March 13th

The Called and Gifted workshop (originally scheduled for Saturday January 9th at St. Thomas the Apostle in Smyrna but postponed due to inclement weather) has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 13th at The Catholic Center at Georgia Tech (172 4th Street Northwest Atlanta, GA 30313-2506) from 8 - 4pm.  Registration is only $20.00 (includes Called and Gifted materials and lunch).

Don't miss this special opportunity - open to all young adults.
 
The Called and Gifted workshop is a good resource for:
-      People knowing themselves better
-      People recognizing their particular gifts and God's work in their lives
-      People maximizing their involvement in the parish
-      People fostering a comprehensive vision of stewardship

World Youth Day 2011: Madrid, Spain - Registration extended until March 31, 2010

Still thinking about attending World Youth Day 2011 with Young Adult Ministry? There's still time to sign-up! Registration extended until March 31, 2010. Deposit and first payments are both due by March 31st . 

Young adults from around the Archdiocese will journey to Spain to celebrate their universal faith with the Pope and hundreds of thousands of young adults from around the world!  An initial deposit of $200 is required to reserve your spot.

3rd Annual 80's Prom
Make your plans today to attend the 3rd Annual 80's Prom on February 6th sponsored by St Jude YAM & Holy Spirit Young Professionals. With DJ Merv crankin' the tunes, balloons, drinks with spiked & non-spiked options, a station to take pictures, lots of dancing and plenty of ridiculous costumes, you should start practicing your robot and running man now! Don't miss the totally righteous fun at the St. Jude Stapleton Center (7171 Glenridge Dr - downstairs in the church, basically like a school cafeteria) from 8PM-Midnight. $5 at the door.  You don't have to be dressed in 80's style to come walk like an Egyptian! Mission Trip To Mustard Seed Communities

Mission of Love and Giving - The Young Adults of Our Lady Of Lourdes is sponsoring a Mission trip to Mustard Seed Communities (Blessed Assurance Apostolate) in Montego Bay, Jamaica from November 20-27, 2010 (Thanksgiving Week). Lenten Revival

Please join Our Lady of Lourdes, as the the young adults host a spirited Lenten revival featuring renowned historian of Black Catholicism Fr. Manuel Williams, Monday, February 15 and Tuesday, February 16 at 7p.m. Fr. Williams is the Director of Resurrection Catholic Missions and Pastor of Resurrection Catholic Church based in Montgomery, Alabama.

He will be presenting the theme: "Lord, Give us More Faith, Hope and Love."

St. Thomas the Apostle YAM, Smyrna

Saturday the 30th, 5:15pm, meet at the Church to carpool to the Night Shelter at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.  We have volunteered to serve the homeless that stay at the Shrine.  From 6pm to 8pm we will serve dinner.  After dinner, we will stay overnight to keep watch over the shelter and will lock up the building to return home at around 6am the following morning.  Please bring a sleeping bag and pillow if you plan on staying overnight.  If you cannot stay overnight but would like to come help serve dinner, you are welcome to do so. 

February:
Thursday the 4th, 6pm, Main Sanctuary.  We will gather to Pray the Rosary, followed by a Dinner at a local restaurant.

We need volunteers each Sunday to help with our "English as a Second Language" program for mainly Hispanic adults.
