Deepen your faith AND sharpen your skills as a leader... all in ONE day!

Be renewed and re-energized at the Young Adult Leadership Day of Reflection on August 14th , 9am - 3:30pm, at the Lake Lanier Kayak Club. Together with young adults from around the Archdiocese, you'll reflect, pray, and grow in your role as a young leader. With talks and reflections by Randy Hain and Kathy Powell, and presentations from the Maximus Group, Catholic Relief Services, and the Archdiocese of Atlanta Young Adult Ministry, you'll be encouraged in your spiritual journey and inspired to step forward in leadership. You'll end the day enjoying God's beauty by kayaking on Lake Lanier.

Cost is only $10 and includes breakfast and lunch. The day will end with kayaking ($15 per person). Bring a friend and join us at this beautiful location overlooking Lake Lanier.

Randy Hain
Randy Hain

Randy Hain is a devoted family man, business leader, active steward in our community, writer and a passionate advocate for our Faith.  He converted to the Catholic Church along with his wife in 2006.   Randy is involved in a number of ministries and groups whose mission is to promote a "unity of life," centered in Christ, that will help Catholic men and women integrate faith, family and work.  He is passionate about following the call of Pope John Paul II's Apostolic Exhortation Christifideles Laici:  "The unity of life of the lay faithful is of the greatest importance: indeed they must be sanctified in everyday professional and social life. Therefore, to respond to their vocation, the lay faithful must see their daily activities as an occasion to join themselves to God, fulfill his will, serve other people and lead them to communion with God in Christ."

Randy leads the St. Peter Chanel Business Association the Atlanta Chapter of the Woodstock Business Conference and has been a Eucharistic Adoration Guardian for over 2 years.  He sits on the boards of the Atlanta Union Mission, the Aquinas Center of Theology at Emory University, Ethikos, the Atlanta Leadership Symposium and TROVE.  Randy is also a regular guest on Sacred Heart Radio and EWTN's Catholic Business Hour and is frequently quoted in numerous publications for his expertise in talent strategy, leadership and career search.  He is also one of the co-founders of the Annual Atlanta Catholic Business Conference. 

Randy writes extensively about leadership and his faith experiences and has had over 25 articles published in the last 3 years.   He is currently co-authoring a book with Deacon Mike Bickerstaff titled, The Integrated Life: Practical Wisdom for Learning and Living the Faith.  He writes the Thoughtful Leadership column for the Catholic Business Journal www.CatholicBusinessJournal.biz.  As Managing Partner for Bell Oaks Executive Search, he has led this well respected company to be named one of the Top 10 Best Places to Work in Atlanta by the Atlanta Business Chronicle for 3 of the last 4 years.

 

Prior to entering the recruitment industry and joining Bell Oaks in 1999, Mr. Hain served as Vice President of Recruiting for Waffle House, an Atlanta-based restaurant chain with more than 1,500 restaurants and $900 million in annual revenue.  He is a 1989 graduate of the University of Georgia.

Randy has been happily married for 15 years and he and his wife have 2 sons. He is the Business Manager and Senior Editor for The Integrated Catholic Life eMagazine which he co-founded with Deacon Mike Bickerstaff in 2010.

Kathy Powell
Kathy Powell

Kathy Powell is a passionate nonprofit professional who loves representing organizations and finding creative ways to solve problems and meet goals. In her current position as the Marketing Director at the Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center, Kathy serves as the voice of center, promoting the counter-cultural idea of silent retreats. Since coming to the Ignatius House in July of 2009, Kathy has implemented their first competitive grant strategy and brought in over $10,000 in cash and services grants. 

Kathy discovered and perfected her love of helping others through working with nonprofit organizations while in college at Florida State University.  Originally intent on becoming certified to teach English as a Second Language, Kathy was smitten by an internship with a nonprofit literacy program coordinator and ever since, has made her focus creating, promoting and assisting nonprofit programs through all means possible. Kathy has found her niche in nonprofit marketing & communications, promoting small organizations through creative partnerships & public relations and keeping constituents informed through comprehensive communications including e-newsletters and social media. Currently, Kathy serves on the communication committee for two Atlanta nonprofits, Friends of L'Arche Atlanta and 21st Century Leaders.  

Proud of her Catholic upbringing and the faith she chooses to live as her own, Kathy is an active member of St Jude Catholic Church. As a parishioner and staff member, Kathy has been involved in answering such varied questions as how to get married in the church, how to get a middle schooler interested in their faith and how to keep toddlers from stealing eachothers' toys in the nursery. In her favorite role as Young Adult Minister, Kathy brought together a group of people in their 20's & 30's that she was not sure even existed at St Jude, and formed a flourishing ministry to connect young adults to the parish and encourage them to actively live their faith in community.

As the daughter of an Air Force officer, Kathy was born in Germany and grew up mostly in the shadow of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Kathy moved to Atlanta after graduating from Florida State and meeting the love of her life and now husband, Kent, there. Kent & Kathy live in Sandy Springs with their two cats, Argyle and Paisley, where she enjoys blogging, cooking and always looking for a good deal.
