New friends, new faces, new places, and plenty of graces!  Yep – we’re talking about Holy Grounds 2008.  We’ll be offering this series at five locations – come to one near you or come to all five.  Grab some grub, enjoy a phenomenal speaker who will encourage you on your Lenten journey, engage in some lively discussion, and then hang out over dessert and coffee afterwards.  Come and experience Holy Grounds.  Change your life over a cup of coffee.

2008 Holy Grounds Speakers

February 13th:  “If you knew The Gift that God has for you”

Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Atlanta www.hsccatl.com
Father Brett Brannen

In this journey of life we can many times ask ourselves, “What is that you have me, God?  Do you have a plan for my life?  How do I know that I’m following your will for me?”  Join us tonight as we discover the gift that God has for each of our lives.  Fr. Brett Brannen has led a number of vocation, seminary, priests retreats, and parish missions.  He is especially a favorite among young adults.  Formerly the Director of Vocations for the diocese of Savannah, Fr. Brett Brannen currently serves as Vice Rector, Mount St. Mary’s Seminary, Emmitsburg, MD.

February 20th: “If you knew The Gift of surrender”

St Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone www.saintmatthew.us
Brendan Murphy

Sometimes it’s easy to say, “Yeah, I trust you Jesus” but for many of us it’s hard to put that into action.  Come and hear a popular local speaker share his insights in his discovery of the gift of the surrender.  Brendan Murphy is a graduate of Pius X High School here in Atlanta and has a BA in History and Education from the University of Notre Dame as well as a Masters in Theology from Spring Hill College.  He currently teaches history at
Marist School.

February 27th: “If you knew The Gift of forgiveness”

St Joseph Maronite Catholic Church, Atlanta
Sr. Rita Marie, Sister Servants

In the story of the woman at the well (John 4), Jesus encounters the Samaritan woman.  The message of forgiveness is one that echoes down to us today.  How can we learn from the Samaritan woman’s encounter with Jesus?  Sister Rita Marie has been in religious life for many years working in the field of catechesis and retreats. She received the Catechetical Diploma offered by Catholic Distance University in conjunction with the Pontifical Council for the Clergy and is presently working in formation with the Novitiate of the Sister Servants. Sister is a dynamic, enthusiastic speaker that you just don’t want to miss.  Come hear Sister Rita give fascinating insights as she shares about The Gift of forgiveness.

March 5th: “If you knew The Gift of saying yes”

St. Jude Catholic Church, Atlanta  www.stjudeatlanta.com
Fr. Eric Hill

Decisions, decisions.  We face them every day.  One of the most important decisions we’ll ever make is saying “yes” to Christ.  But what happens after that?  Come and join us as we hear from Fr. Eric Hill – pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul.  Fr. Eric Hill was ordained to the priesthood on 3 June 2000 for the Archdiocese of Atlanta.  He received a B.A. in Philosophy from Saint Vincent College and a M.Div. from Saint Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.   Fr. Eric will share with us The Gift of saying yes.

March 12th:  “If you knew The Gift of the sacraments”

St. Jude Catholic Church, Atlanta  www.stjudeatlanta.com
Chris and Michelle Benzinger

Our final destination is heaven.  Seem impossible?  It helps to know that Christ gives us the tools to reach Eternal Life:  the Sacraments.  How do the sacraments help us to achieve eternity?  How can single young adults prepare for the sacrament of marriage? What are some of the ways that couples can raise holy families?   Come and hear Chris and Michelle Benzinger share the answer to these questions.  Chris and Michelle have been married six years and are the parents of three wonderful boys.  They have spent three years with Catholic missions serving in Austria, Mexico, and the United States.  They currently serve as directors of Life Teen Camp Covecrest in Tiger, GA.
