Dragon Boat Festival

May 16th

11:00 am Mass

12:30 pm Dragon Boat Competition

Please be aware that the weather forecasts call for a 30% chance of thunderstorms on Sunday. If Lake Lanier were to close that day because of dangerous conditions, the Dragonboat Festival would then have to be canceled. We pray that this does not happen, but your safety is more
important to us.

We will not be able to notify everyone if the event is in fact canceled. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you call the OFD/YAM Weather Hotline at 404-885 7222 before driving to the event this Sunday.

We appreciate your understanding. Please pray for excellent weather this weekend.

Back by popular demand, it's the 2nd Annual YAM Dragonboat Festival at Lake Lanier's '96 Summer Centennial Olympics Games venue!

Dragonboat racing is one of the fastest growing and exciting water sports. Twenty paddlers move in unison in a long, narrow canoe whose design originates in ancient China. Last year over 200 young adults participated in the sport. Come as an individual or come with your young adult group. Each competitor will be placed on a 20 person team with the top three competing teams receiving an Olympic style award ceremony.

Dragonboat racing is a great sport; anyone can do it and have fun! So... join us for this exciting event while enjoying the diversity of our Archdiocese. Mark your calendars for May 16th, beginning with Mass at 11am followed by lunch and the dragonboat competition; festivities will end by 4pm.
